In her spare time, Katie loves to volunteer with a local animal rescue group that helps homeless cats and dogs via placement in foster homes (Independent Animal Rescue).
Katie graduated from the University of Rochester in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and then completed her Ph.D. in Behavioral and Neural Sciences at Rutgers University in 2011. Katie moved to Durham in the fall of 2011 and was a post-doc in the Adcock Lab from November, 2011 - November, 2016. In December 2016 she was promoted to Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her work has been funded by a T32 from the Department of Neurobiology at Duke, a F32 from NIMH, and a KL2 from the Clinical Translational Science Award awarded to Duke.
