Undergraduates wanted for a Motivation and Decision Sciences Research Internship!
What this is:
The Motivation and Decision Sciences Research Internship (MDSRI) is a semester-long program that introduces the basics of conducting research in motivation and decision sciences (e.g., psychology, behavioral economics, human neuroscience and related fields). We hope to prepare students for success in their future research endeavors at Duke and beyond.This program is for undergraduates at Duke University who are interested in behavioral science. We welcome students who have little to no prior research experience.Priority will be given to sophomores but individuals in all years are encouraged to apply.We strongly encourage individuals from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM disciplines to apply.
Who we are:
We are graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members (Prof. Scott Huettel, Prof. Alison Adcock, Prof. Greg Samanez-Larkin) in the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. Collectively, we ask questions around how humans make decisions and how our motivation affects what we learn and remember.These questions include how we decide what food we eat, what information we seek out, and how we can learn to control our own motivational state.
What we expect of you, if you join the program this semester:
This is a semester long program that involves both group and individual activities. In order to ensure a beneficial experience for everyone, we expect you to commit to the entire program. The program involves 8 –12 hours per week, comprising research-related activities such as programming tutorials, journal clubs, and independent research. A varied and rewarding schedule is planned for every week of the semester.
